516.562.5984, bgillool@cmp.com As the founding and current editor-in-chief of Optimize, Brian is responsible for setting the editorial direction and strategy of the publication. Working with the Optimize editorial team, Brian interacts with Optimize subject matter experts to bring business technology executives the unique perspective that enables them to develop and execute innovative strategies within their organizations. He meets regularly with the top global CIOs and business technology executives. A 12-year veteran of the InformationWeek media group, Brian served as editor of InformationWeek magazine from January 1998 to August 1999, and continues to lead InformationWeek and Optimize’s live events as editor-in-chief. Brian also has served as senior VP, eastern region, for Vectrix, a Dallas-based E-commerce solutions provider. Brian has spent 19 years at InformationWeek's parent company, CMP Media LLC, including editorial responsibilities at CRN.
415.947.6275, pbrown@cmp.com As the executive editor of Optimize, Patty is responsible for working with editor-in-chief Brian Gillooly and the Optimize team to establish editorial direction, manage editorial operations and develop content across the magazine, its online resources and executive programs. Previously editor-in-chief of aviationnow.com, Patty is a CMP veteran, writing and editing for such publications as CommunicationsWeek (later InternetWeek), as well as serving as the managing editor/news of tele.com magazine. Prior to joining CMP in 1994, she was an editor at Phillips Publishing and worked in broadcasting. Patty holds a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in non-fiction writing from Johns Hopkins University.

Also an editor of contributed articles, Paula collaborates with editor-in-chief Brian Gillooly to identify topics that are of critical importance to business technology executives. Paula joined Optimize in November 2001, having served as InformationWeek’s managing editor of special projects. Prior to that, she was managing editor of features and editor of the Managing Change section at InternetWeek. A seasoned journalist, Paula held news and management positions at CMP and served as business editor at a daily newspaper. In addition, her vast background includes editorial roles launching weekly community newspapers, starting a literary magazine and editing reports and newsletters at the Gartner Group.

Previously, he was events editor with InformationWeek. Before joining CMP, Derek was features editor with Streaming Media, Inc., which produced a monthly magazine, daily news online, and in-depth research reports. He has also worked as assistant business editor with NewMedia Magazine, associate editor at Diablo, and director of the National Student News Service, a nonprofit collegiate wire based in San Francisco. |
